Heat treatment and shot blasting

• T5: Cooled from a hot-working process and then artificially aged. Moderate strength, better dimensional stability.
• T6: Solution heat-treated and then artificially aged. Higher strength but may have slightly reduced ductility compared to T5.

• T5: Automotive parts, extrusions, and components where moderate strength and dimensional stability are important.
• T6: Structural components and applications requiring maximum strength and hardness.

T5 offers slightly better dimensional stability during fabrication, while T6 provides higher strength but may bend more if stressed.
